first of all:
if you HAVE NOT ridden the head intelligence board, DON'T POST ANYTHING like crap, doesn't work, k2 had that tech years ago already, head sucks in general, fvck the ski companies..." because all of this IS NOT TRUE.

after burton having stopped making boards which are ínteresting for me to ride, i searched the market for a substitute.
fortunately, exactly in this time my idol peter bauer went from burton to head as chief board developper. he sent me one of the first prototypes of the intelligence fr board. from the first descent on, i was absolutely convinced.
the board combines everything i want to have on snow.

-stifff (torsional and longitudinal)
-demanding
-superior edge hold
-very high manufacturing standard
-fast base
-accelerates amazingly
-perfect dampening
-ultra fast edge to edge
-stable at high speed

of course, like everyone else, i was a bit unsure about this electric blingbling, but that changed within the first turns. the board stiffens up immediately when you accelerate. you can bomb through tracked powder sh1t at mach speed where every other board starts to wash out and acts like a rodeo horse. the head board just stays calm.
i never have the feeling that the board limits you. it sets your riding standard higher every ride once more.
for me, as i don't play around in park and pipe at all except for straight airs, but stay on the slopes (like concrete or ice, please), on bx tracks and in the backcountry (challenging, steep and technical, please), i can't imagine a better machine to do that all in one run. in the meanwhile, i even take it out of the bag before a longer frontier or so.

choose "one length longer" than your actual board length.

Post 2:

Today I got to ride my new Team. Its a 158, I rode with with C60's and SL8's. Just for reference, I'm 5'11 and about 160 without gear.

For those not aware, the big thing with the Team and Intelligence from Head is the chip located in the core that utalizes fibres embedded within the base to alter the flex characteristics of the board instantaniously while you are riding.

Now I have been on a Custom X for a season and a half. Conditions at Timberline today ranged from Hardpack to downright icy, definately not the most fun considering we just came off about two straight months of powder every day.

In short, THIS BOARD RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost don't even know where to begin. This board is not a flexy jib board, thats for sure, just doing tail presses on the catwalk down to the first run, I would say its slightly easier to press than my custom x, of course I almost didn't notice as I was going down the catwalk that I was FLYING past everyone, not sure if it was the ice or what, but I was catching more speed on that catwalk than I ever have before. I can't wait to try it in better snow to see if the base is really that fast.

Going down the run, first I noticed the response edge to edge is amazing, quicker than the T6 I rode in similiar conditions at whistler. Up the pace, and the board refuses to lose an edge, I was dragging my knuckles carving on ice!!! The faster you go, the more comfortable it is, the whole time it didn't lose any of its ability to turn on a dime. I seriously felt like I could wiggle my big toe and initiate another turn.

Despite all this, it never felt like I was going to lose it anywhere, incredibly stable, yet super responsive. I don't even know how to really emphasize this enough. I went down Palmer, which is a glacier, which was nothing but crusty ice and felt invincible. I have never gone that fast, even when the snow was perfect. I could hear the ice and crud banging off the board, yet it tracked perfectly like it wasn't even there. When I finally did notice some chatter, it was when I hit a section that was as bumpy as a coble stone street, I was going as fast as I ever have before, while I felt a little vibration, I felt no fear continuing to push further. There was so much power to be had coming out of turns from the tail as well.

Coming off that, I hit the park, again I was amazed. The tail has so much pop, I was clearing jumps with much more height and ease than I could on my custom x and the landings were like butter. When just dorking around, it feels just as soft and flexy as any other freestyle deck, easy to whip around and incredibly confidence inspiring. I was clearing more distance than I have before, without feeling the least bit nervous about it.

Riding switch was awesome as well, especially considering I usually suck at riding switch and I was riding set back 2cm (markings on board aren't in inches).

The chip technology must be doing something, although its not something you notice while riding....its so fluid and seamless that I didn't think about it until after I realized I had just bombed 50 mph down a crusty, bumpy icy glacier, and hit the park at the bottom of it with ease, all in the same run without feeling like the board was comprimising performance in either area.

I don't know what else to say about this board, I would gladly have paid over retail for this thing. The limits of the board are so far beyond me its crazy, and pushing them is so much fun! Today could easily have been a crappy day on the mountain, and I think I had the most fun I have ever had....


By all means, if you have the chance, demo this board(even better, just buy it!), I was a little skeptical reading about the tech thats in it, but mwrider and FrontierX's postings about the other model made me feel much better, and I'm so glad i got it.

If anyone wants a deal on an 05' Custom X 160, let me know, i have no use for it anymore and might as well give the BMB first dibs otherwise its going on ebay.."
