30.4C-EUROPEAN TEMP RECORD FOR JANUARY IN CRETE

Today, on the 1st of January 2010 and at 11:09 am the network of meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens has recorded what is probably the European temperature record for January with a value of 30.4°C at Vryses,Chanion which is located in the largest Greek island of Crete.





The available data so far suggest that this temperature is the highest ever recorded in Europe during January (which is traditionally the coldest month in the continent)
